Secret of Sanctity: Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Prayer to Holy Spirit Secret of Sanctity

The Secret of Sanctity Prayer is one of my favorites! It’s easy to memorize so you can meditate on the words anytime and anywhere. At the end of the post are some additional resources and a link to a printable prayer card.  I hope this prayer blesses you, as much as it has blessed me! Cardinal Mercier’s Secret of Sanctity Prayer “I am going to reveal to you the secret of sanctity and happiness. Every day for five minutes control your imagination and close your eyes to the things of sense and your ears to all the noises of the world, in order…continued

The Descent of the Holy Spirit: A Meditation from Divine Intimacy

One of my favorite books, Divine Intimacy, is out of print right now  so I thought I would share today’s meditation on Pentecost with you. This is from Section 189, “The Descent of the Holy Spirit.” “Pentecost is the plenitude of God’s gift to men. On Christmas Day, God gives us His only-begotten Son, Christ Jesus, the Mediator, the Bridge connecting humanity and divinity. During Holy Week, Jesus, by His Passion, gives Himself entirely for us, even to death on the Cross. He bathes us, purifying and sanctifying us in His Blood. At Easter, Christ rises, and His Resurrection, as well as His Ascension,…continued

Answering the Invitation of Christ

“The most holy council, then, earnestly entreats all the laity in the Lord to answer gladly, nobly, and promptly the more urgent invitation of Christ in this hour and the impulse of the Holy Spirit.” Vatican II Apostolicam Actuositatem Note the urgency in this plea to us. We are “earnestly entreated” and begged to “promptly answer” But why me? Why you? Because we are the Church. We are Christ’s body on earth. If we don’t reach out our hand to someone in need, whether it is a spiritual or emotional need, or a need for more tangible help, there may be no…continued

Christmas Concert Lessons

It was a long day, heading into a long evening as I drove to my daughter’s school for the Christmas concert. The car ride gave me quiet time alone, and I enjoyed the silence. I could feel the Holy Spirit inviting me to “enter within” as Theresa of Avila calls it, and so as I drove I turned to Him dwelling within me. I could feel His love, His presence. Arriving at the school early, I was aware that as a divorced mom, I would be there “on my own” and I am not always comfortable with that. Although I…continued

Floating in His Will

The good Lord can sanctify any moment, even an evening floating in the pool, just totally relaxed. The more I relaxed, the more I became aware of  my own body as it floated.  The jets of recirculating water created currents that pushed me. I was surprised by how strong they were. I’ve been in the pool before, floated before. What was so different now? Now I was so totally supported by floats  that I could totally relax my body, no need to move my head, my feet or my arms. As the currents pushed me, I thought of how those currents are like…continued

Submitting and Accepting

Every day for over 10 years I have prayed the “Secret of Sanctity” prayer by Cardinal Mercier. Now is a time when I must live the words: Holy Spirit, Soul of my Soul, I adore You. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me. Tell me what I should do, give me your orders. I promise to submit myself to all that you desire of me and to accept all that You permit to happen to me, let me only know Your will. Am I accepting right now? Accepting the limitations imposed by my physical pain and the injury that I sustained?…continued
