The Secret of Sanctity Prayer is one of my favorites! It’s easy to memorize so you can meditate on the words anytime and anywhere. At the end of the post are some additional resources and a link to a printable prayer card. I hope this prayer blesses you, as much as it has blessed me! Cardinal Mercier’s Secret of Sanctity Prayer “I am going to reveal to you the secret of sanctity and happiness. Every day for five minutes control your imagination and close your eyes to the things of sense and your ears to all the noises of the world, in order…continued
“To be a servant of God means to have a great charity toward one’s neighbor and an unshakable resolution to follow the divine Will in all things, trusting in God with simplicity and humility, bearing with one’s defects and patiently tolerating the imperfections of others. ” St. Francis de Sales Spiritual Diary by the Daughters of St. Paul Just as we must “love our neighbors as ourselves” we also tolerate their defects as we tolerate our own. This is not about feelings, or accepting that we must live forever with the faults we have, or that we should allow ourselves…continued
The will of God is one of my favorite subjects to read about. The Will of God in Other Words by Dom Hubert Van Zeller excited me because it was published in 1964, not too long ago really, compared to most of the spiritual “classics.” This book is out of print but you can still find it used (click on the image to buy it on Amazon or read more information about it there.) Also keep an eye out to see if it is one that is republished by Sophia Institute Press. Van Zeller wrote: “It is important to think…continued
Our true happiness, our holiness, consists in breathing the breath of His will back to Him from whom it comes. The Will of God, Dom Hubert Van Zeller p. 23 This is a beautiful thought to sit with in prayer, asking the Lord to explain it and to teach us the way to happiness and holiness through His will. How will we breath His will back to Him? I can’t tell you how to do this; you must listen for His voice to teach you in the silence of your heart.
I admit it: I get lost very easily. Once in my early twenties (before the days of cell phones and GPS gadgets) I was so lost that anxiety overwhelmed me and I started hyper-ventilating. That was not fun. I eventually learned to just be patient with myself and not be surprised when, yet again, I forgot which street to turn onto or couldn’t follow the helpful directions I had been given. Even with a GPS I often miss a turn or an exit off the interstate, only realizing it when I hear the voice from the dashboard chiming the dreaded,…continued
“Every person therefore is invited to “repent” and to “believe” in God’s merciful love. The kingdom will grow insofar as every person learns to turn to God in the intimacy of prayer as to a Father and strives to do his will.” Section 13, Mission of The Redeemer Our Father’s merciful love was made manifest to us in the flesh and blood of His son Jesus. Each time we gaze upon the Christ child in the manger, we are seeing the embodiment our Father’s love for us. This helpless little baby, held in Mary’s arms, tiny hands reaching out to grasp…continued
Every day for over 10 years I have prayed the “Secret of Sanctity” prayer by Cardinal Mercier. Now is a time when I must live the words: Holy Spirit, Soul of my Soul, I adore You. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me. Tell me what I should do, give me your orders. I promise to submit myself to all that you desire of me and to accept all that You permit to happen to me, let me only know Your will. Am I accepting right now? Accepting the limitations imposed by my physical pain and the injury that I sustained?…continued
